I like branches. I cannot go for walks (or drives) without noticing them, especially when it’s a “good” one. A “good” one is one that is “branchy”, clean, has a nice dark brown colour. (I also like wood stumps, but I won’t get into that right now.) Most of the time, they just hang out in a large vase, but this time, it’s for a project. A friend of a friend asked me to make a bird mobile for her sister’s baby, after seeing one in her daughter's room. I was a bit reluctant at first as it's quite a bit of work, but I could never turn down making anything for babies. When it comes to baby nurseries, I'm a huge fan of incorporating elements that are more "grownup" rather than "babyish". Modern, sweet but sophisticated elements that grow with the child makes more sense to me. This is the third one I've made as a gift since I saw it here and I must say, it's getting easier and faster to do. In fact, I might actually find time to make one for myself one day.
